It seems that the little reds are getting their own back after the measly martens muscled in on their patch. The current martens were discovered when I had been focusing on Red Squirrels back in December/January. Melting snow revealed a pile of marten mess at the base of the feeder tree, which was good news for me but not so good for the little red.
Anyway yesterday’s trip to check the camera trap has revealed the revenge of the reds, as there is a rather blurry image of a cheeky red squirrel sniffing around the martens honey glazed nuts and eggs.
Revenge is sweet!!
